Preacher’s Son
Brian Hogan from Kila’s new band Preacher’s Son is like a David Byrne, Scott Walker collaboration. Queen’s Greatest Hits circa 1980 vs ‘Morrison Hotel’. A bit angsty, a bit Bowie a wee bit Ska. All influences can be heard loud and clear in every track and are proudly shown. Country, funk, folk, punk, croon, Mars (God of War). All of the above with ACDC as the backing band and John Lee Hooker as MD. Aimed at the hip and heart if you have to think about it, don’t. First album under construction, provisionally entitled “Life, Love and Limb” being co-produced by Ciaran Cahill and assisted by Mark Ellison. Released summer 2009, which will be the start of mass gigging, ducking and diving around the planet…. mass hysteria etc.

I went along to this gig not knowng who Preacher’s Son was, a mate of mine dragged me along. What a stroke of luck!!! They were sensational, loud, funky yet at times really subtle and melodic, so so diverse it was refreshing, everything is so predictable nowadays…. and the female drummer – well I have never seen some one look so sexy while beating the hell out of a kit. The main guy was kind of cute too, actually all the guys on stage had their own kind of charm. Really really cool band.
